From the series: Entrepreneurial Spirit (2023) - Artist: Pippo Kudi & Valentin Elias Renner

We both jumped into the deep end. Only it didn't feel uncomfortably cold to us, but rather refreshing and revitalizing!

Of course, the step into self-employment is always associated with risks, which mean an uncertain future and a large commitment of time. You have to be suitable for it in some way, like making decisions, learn quickly from your own mistakes and be prepared to get by with few resources at the beginning.

Especially as an artist, you are always fighting on different fronts. Although we choose the romanticized path of creative expression and thrive in it, at the same time it is similar to building a startup. You have to be able to organize yourself well, build a network within the target group and among colleagues and become visible through marketing measures. Of course, many people find the term “marketing” uncomfortable to associate with art. But it is necessary for us to be able to pay our rent.

For us, the most important cornerstones for a successful foundation as an artist and thus for the necessary scope to be able to act freely on the creative side are:

Risk appetite, structure and visibility.
