2023 – what an intense and turbulent year!
Being self-employed as both an artist and boutique owner has brought so many joyful and fulfilling aspects, giving me a wide playground for my creative ideas. Exactly what I always need: space for trial & error. Making mistakes, learning quickly, and finding the right path to a sustainable model.
For me, the three essential pillars of self-employment are product, team, and market. And in 2023, the art market became a sector heavily impacted by global economic shifts. This market hesitation, combined with the devastating wars and conflicts around the world, was a heavy blow to my otherwise positive outlook.
I couldn't fight the world’s suffering myself. But the weakened art market—that was something I could take action on. It became crucial to experiment with new approaches, reaching art enthusiasts with highly personalized interactions, not just online, but especially offline. With a lot of effort and persistence, success returned!
Looking ahead through this small window of 2024, the future already seems much brighter. And with it remains the hope that the world, too, will find a little more peace.
