From the series: Long Journey
After spending several years in different cities across Germany and Canada, Hamburg has once again captured my heart. Returning to this city feels like coming home—a reunion with a place that is deeply familiar to me. My relationship with Hamburg is sometimes a love-hate affair, shaped by its relentless weather, often wrapped in shades of monotonous gray. But when the sun breaks through and we experience those rare, warm Hamburg nights, we can’t help but embrace the streets and think: Is there a more beautiful city than this?
Hamburg’s unique connection to water defines its character. Whether by the Alster or the Elbe, the city’s easy access to the water makes it truly special. The Alster, with its picturesque shores and countless boats gliding across its surface, is a symbol of the city’s quality of life and charm. Meanwhile, the Elbe impresses with its vast riverbanks and bustling ship traffic, linking Hamburg to the world.
With my artwork "Alsterwasser," I aim to capture the fascination and beauty of this green city by the water. The colors and shapes reflect Hamburg’s vibrant energy, dynamic pulse, and diversity. It is a tribute to the place that has once again become my home.
